American rapper Tyler, The Creator has just shaken the internet after dropping his brand new single “NOID”, pulled from his highly anticipated album “CHROMAKOPIA.” But what’s got Zambians talking is not just the vibe — it’s the unexpected Zamrock connection that’s putting Zambia back on the global map.

In a move nobody saw coming, Tyler samples the legendary Zamrock classic “Nizaka Panga Ngozi” by Ngozi Family, fronted by iconic music pioneer Paul Ngozi. The original track, released in the late 70s, is one of the biggest anthems of the Zamrock era — a raw fusion of Zambian sound, psychedelic rock, funk and blues.

This bold sample has instantly caught the attention of Zambian music fans, with many praising Tyler for shining a global spotlight on the country’s rich musical heritage. Even more impressive, Tyler made sure to give credit where it’s due by listing Paul Ngozi (real name Paul Dobson Nyirongo) as one of the songwriters on “NOID.”

From Lusaka to Los Angeles, this moment is being celebrated as a major win for Zambian music culture, proving that Zamrock still has influence decades later. Tyler now joins a growing list of international stars tapping into Zambia’s sound, including Travis Scott.
