Xavier Chungu Picked Up By Police For Questioning

Former Intelligence boss Xavier Chungu has reportedly been picked up by police for questioning in what authorities are calling an “ongoing investigation.”

Police spokesperson Godfrey Chilabi confirmed on Thursday that Chungu was brought in to assist with investigations, but remained tight-lipped on the details surrounding the matter.

“Further updates will be provided in due course,” said Chilabi.

The development comes just days after Chungu made headlines with explosive media interviews where he defended intelligence officers accused of corruption, arguing that operatives carrying out state assignments should not automatically be labeled corrupt.

So far, police have not announced any charges against the former Director General of Intelligence.

The sudden questioning of Chungu has already sparked debate online, with many wondering whether his recent public statements may have triggered renewed interest from investigators.
