MACKY 2 HEARTBROKEN AS FRANK RO DUMPS OLIJABA ENTERTAINMENT, GOES SOLO
Zambian singer Frank Ro has officially ended his journey with Olijaba Entertainment, choosing to continue his music career as an independent artist.
In a statement shared with fans, Frank Ro described his time at the label as an incredible chapter filled with growth, learning, and unforgettable memories. The singer thanked Macky 2 and the entire Olijaba team for believing in his talent and helping shape his career, insisting that his departure comes with “nothing but gratitude and respect.”
According to Frank Ro, going independent will allow him to enjoy greater creative freedom and build a stronger connection with his supporters. He also emphasized that Olijaba was more than just a label, calling it family.
However, the announcement appears to have hit Olijaba CEO Macky 2 hard.
Responding publicly, the award-winning rapper admitted he was disappointed by the decision.
“I think I would be lying if I said I wasn’t disappointed,” Macky 2 wrote.
The music mogul explained that his disappointment was not personal but came from the fact that Olijaba had invested heavily in Frank Ro’s career. He stressed that while record labels often become family, they are also businesses that commit time, resources, and money to artists they believe in.
Macky 2 further warned that the way artists leave labels can affect opportunities for upcoming talent, saying future investors may become reluctant to sign new artists if partnerships end badly.
Despite his concerns, Macky 2 made it clear that he still believes in Frank Ro’s talent and wishes him success on his new journey.
“From the bottom of my heart, I wish you nothing but success on your new path,” he said.
As expected, social media users quickly jumped into the conversation, with opinions flying from every direction.
Some fans urged Frank Ro to be patient and trust the process, while others praised loyalty in the music industry. One commenter jokingly reacted to Macky 2’s famous “my doors will always be open” statement, claiming it sounded like something every CEO says after changing the locks and instructing the receptionist not to let you in.
Others pointed out Macky 2’s warning about upcoming artists, saying there was an important lesson to learn about professionalism and responsibility in the industry.
For now, Zambians can only watch as one of the country’s most talked-about artist-label relationships comes to an end. Whether Frank Ro’s decision becomes a major success story or a tough lesson for future artists remains to be seen, but one thing is certain — the entertainment streets are watching closely.
