Zambian music icon Macky 2 found himself in the spotlight for reasons beyond music after he was briefly detained in Chingola.

The celebrated artist, whose real name is Mulaza Kaira, was picked up by police in connection with alleged offences related to the Public Order Act.

Copperbelt Province Police Commanding Officer Mwala Yuyi confirmed the development, stating that Macky 2 was only held for questioning before being released shortly after.

“He was picked up for questioning in relation to Public Order Act offences and was released shortly after a verbal caution,” Yuyi explained.

News of the detention quickly spread after Macky 2 himself took to social media, posting a brief message that read:

“I have been arrested in Chingola.”

The update sparked concern among fans and supporters, many of whom flooded his page with messages of solidarity.

The incident comes at a time when the artist is making a major shift into politics. Macky 2 recently announced his intention to contest as Member of Parliament for Nchanga Constituency in the upcoming general elections.

He has also been vocal in encouraging young people to take an active role in national development, urging them to step forward and prove their leadership potential.
